From our days dabbling with AI internally at Stripe, we started seeing the opportunities and challenges that regulated industries like fintech would face with AI. While reasoning and autonomy are powerful capabilities, LLMs are still stochastic in nature. How do you protect high stakes customer experiences where health, money and a ton of regulatory oversight are at stake? How do you enforce permissions and hand over to a human predictably? We came out of stealth with our Python SDK in March and today we’d love to share with the PH community the full feature set we built up since then:
🧠 Transparent reasoning – Build a multi-agent `Plan` declaratively or iterate on one with our planning agent.
📝 Stateful execution – Get full explainability and auditability with the `PlanRunState`.
📍Compliant and permissioned – Implement guardrails through an `ExecutionHook` and raise a clarification for human authorisation and input.
🧰 1000s of cloud and MCP tools – Load any official MCP server into the SDK including the latest remote ones, or bring your own.
🛡️ Flexible deployment – Securely deploy on your infrastructure or use our cloud for full observability into your end users, tool calls, agent memory and more.

Congrats on the launch! Portia’s focus on compliance and safe AI is impressive. Which industries or user roles are you seeing adopt Portia first, and what are their main use cases?

@joey_zhu1 thanks for your kind support :) we initially saw traction with fintechs, esp on use cases with high potential for return on automation e.g. KYC screening where our human:agent interface acts as a great safety net in grey areas. We're getting interest from healthtech increasingly as well (scheduling, triage support etc.)

Oh man, Portia AI is a game - changer! Why didn't I find this earlier? So stoked!
Compare to other tools like, say, AgentGPT – Portia AI is on another level. It gets compliance and safety in regulated stuff, which those others kinda drop the ball on. Way more solid for fintech and healthcare vibes lol.
I work in a startup, right? We need to build AI agents that handle sensitive user data. With Portia, we can set up those guardrails, track execution, and make sure everything's above board. No more worrying about audits or rogue agent moves. Gonna use it to build our customer - facing AI assistant, deploy on our cloud infrastructure.
