There's almost no public content on how to monetize a Chrome Extension.
Google invited us to do a podcast about it, sharing our learnings on how two bootstrapped guys grew Pretty Prompt to 40,000 users, 25% on annual plans, with ~7% weekly growth, with no VC money.

And it all started right here in Product Hunt. The best place to launch new products.
At least it was for us.

I just told Claude Code to use Remotion to enhance my launch video for the new Pretty Canvas.
(Repurpose Content in Your Brand Voice in a visual canvas style) -> See how it works Claude did a pretty good first draft. Then I prompted the following:
"Few things to update. The colour code should be: hashtag#0D4EBD hashtag#0A224D hashtag#0065FD hashtag#FEFEFD hashtag#9BA5BD
and accents of yellow where needed. - The font should be Poppins (titles) and Work Sans for smaller stuff. - The logo of Pretty Prompt is this one (attached) - Make sure you also save this information as context for future video edits. - Finally, the last screen should be this one (attached) use it as an example of the style of the lower thirds"
The result? 10x better video. In brand. When you provide good context, the output is way way better.
Still feels surreal. 5 years ago I didn't know what a startup was. Two weeks ago, we stood at @Stripe, sharing what we ve built... and the numbers are crazy:
10,000+ users in under 3 months (now nearly 18,000)
220M+ tokens processed in 90 days (that's ~93k tokens/hour)
Built in a space most people call just a wrapper . we went all-in on a single problem.
179,000 views in 7 days (I guess it s not just us who are geeky about AI tokens )
Here s what we shared at Stripe: milestones, mistakes, learnings, and our honest journey. No here s how you do X , only here s what we ve learned and what worked for us.
@Spotify launched a glitter logo for their 20th anniversary. We decided to celebrate a little earlier. (11 months ) Glittering prompts and AI results since day one.
I spent the last week doing the heavy lifting of researching the best prompts across LinkedIn and Reddit and testing them for marketing, social media, strategy, and image generation to see what actually works versus what s just hype.
On Friday I took my first salary as a founder. Paid by revenue. Not investment. My first one ever. So proud. Most startups die before they make $1. We ve been making revenue for 8 months. Even after pivoting from @Dolphin AI. I don t take this lightly. But it isn t about money. It s about the milestone. The fact that something didn t exist and now it does. Something people want. Are happy to pay for. And happy to be part of. @Pretty Prompt keeps surprising me week after week.
And it all started here on PH . If I could talk to my 2023 self, I d say: "Just keep pushing". Doesn t matter if you don t come from a CS degree, or didn t go to an Ivy League.
What matters is your ability to adapt, and move fast. This is proof. And I m super proud. I took my wife out for dinner. If I was motivated before Wait for what we ll do next with Charlie, my co-founder! Here s to the next Pretty milestone. And building things people want.
