Usually, when a pandemic starts, official Travel and Health Warnings are given. These warnings affect some benefits of the coverage. Here's an explanation:
Travel Warnings directly affect the benefit of "Evacuation from Local Unrest" which is what we have that would cover you to get to either your home country or a nearby safe country if a pandemic starts.
·If the start date of your policy is after the Travel or Health Warning was issued, there is no coverage for this benefit.
·If there is a Travel or Health Warning in place when you arrive at your destination, there is no coverage for this benefit.
·If a Travel Warning is issued after your arrival, you have to contact us within 10 days of the issue to be eligible.
Health Warnings trigger this general exclusion:
Any illness or injury resulting from an epidemic, pandemic, public health emergency, natural disaster, or other disease outbreak when a health warning has been in effect before your start date or if you did not leave the area mentioned in the health warning within 10 days following the date the warning is issued. Except what is described in the section called "COVID-19" (exclusion 4) from the Nomad Insurance Description of Coverage which can be found by using the following link:

Found your insurance while scrolling through some forums, and honestly, it's about time you guys fixed the claims process from what Sondre said sounds like you've been aware of it being a mess for a while but why did it take so long to address it? also cool that you've got options for adventure sports and electronics did you get a lot of feedback asking for that? would be interested to know what else you've got planned in updates or new features, peace of mind is great but people want more than just basics these days, keep it coming and let's hope this version lives up to the hype

SafetyWing has been aware of these issues and has been taking note all this time. However, it's only now, after a long process that we got to launch our carrier with the changes we and our members wanted to see. We did get a lot of feedback asking for electronics theft coverage as well as coverage for some adventure sports that previously we did not cover.

Hey Sondre, looks like youve made some solid improvements, but 84% faster is a weird stat to focus on, how does it compare to something like World Nomads or SafetyWing's older version Hardly mentioned the new optional add-ons though, would love to know more about that adventure sports coverage and electronics theft, got any specifics on that, also heard some people complaining about customer service - any plans to beef that up? By 84% faster we mean that the turnaround time for processing claims went from around 30 days to 5 days. In terms of the add-ons I can share for the adventure sports add-on, Nomad Insurance covers up to $100,000 in your lifetime for a list of adventure sports that can be found in the Description of Coverage under "Adventure sports". If you have the Electronics theft add-on you can get reimbursed for some of the value of the items if your electronics are stolen. The electronics covered are: Laptops, cameras, lenses, smartphones, e-readers, music players, tablets, earphones, earplugs, iPads, airpods and drones.
