No word on contactless payments? Haven't swiped or dipped my card for months here in Europe.

@cyrilbiselx It looks like they will make a separate version with tap support for international markets in the future, which is why they made the product U.S. only, even though Shopify is a Canadian company. Like @skanwar said above, tap usage in the U.S. in very low. I went on vacation to California in the spring and was shocked by how few merchants accept tap. Some places like CVS have tap but disabled it, and the Whole Foods there had tap terminals too, but they hadn't worked for months according to the employees.

@skanwar I experienced that too! Thought it was my card's fault...That's so funny, Mastercard is marketing contactless hardcore in Switzerland, they installed readers everything from ticket machines to parking meters. I guess we are ahead on that one

Has anyone tried this with Samsung Pay? Also, I agree with others that leaving out tap was a silly choice which will force Shopify to send out new readers in a few years. I think the latest Moneris report said something like 40% of card payments in Canada are made using tap, and it helps merchants process transactions faster. I believe that Walmart and Hudson's Bay are the only two major chains in Canada which don't support tap.

@askdaylen Tap adoption is definitely higher in Canada, but its still relatively low in the U.S. and not essential for casual selling use. We actually already offer a more advanced reader that does tap, which is popular in more established stores.
