Hey Lorenz, this sounds really interesting! I'm curious about how the AI engine identifies the best responses and what criteria it uses for that. Also, how do you ensure that the prompts encourage genuine conversation rather than just short replies? This could really change the online learning game.
@star_boat we've been facilitating group experiences for the last 10 years. We're bringing a lot of our understanding of group process into how we train the AI. We find that optimizing for meaningful responses is more about the prompt than the AI though. And the AI can also be really helpful and designing the prompt.
@star_boat thanks for your thoughtful question, a lot of our AI training comes from our own facilitation expertise. I'm an educator and an instructional designer and have been facilitating learning experiences for 20 years of my career. So we have certain inputs we give the AI to evaluate comments and make connections between people. Same for the quality of the prompt which is the key to engaging people in a conversation in the first place.

@natashasell Thanks for your reply, that's help a lot. :)
@alena_bach thanks so much for your support. Yes we are definitely trying to innovate to address those challenged. Curious about your experience with online programs? How has that been for you? What's worked well or not so well?
@mitia it really depends. In Sutra, you don't directly interact with the AI agent. You engage with prompts that guide discussion that you then have with other participants. The AI functions like a facilitator.
How were you think it could support language learning?
@mitia I believe it can be, although that is not our target audience.

@lorenzsell hmm I think it would be possible. It is not necessary to be an AI tutor, it would be enough if the foreign language course is live or recorded, and that the students' answers are kept and compared below in the comments, which answers are compared and corrected by the AI tutor. If you know what i mean? Spelling errors that occur here would be corrected and supplemented with auto correct anyway, so there should be no problems here. But writing would force the student to think in a foreign language, which I think is great, because writing stimulates thinking, which would force students to think in the language they are learning.
Compared to other online language learning platforms, which typically focus on filling in forms with individual words and symbols rather than constructing full sentences, I believe it could be possible to enhance the experience. This approach could be very beneficial for learning foreign languages.
Well, this solves most of the exhaustion phase we face while learning a skill. It has a great motive.
Anyways, congrats on the launch, and I hope you the best 🥂
@akshith_pottigari Ah, yes, thank you so much for seeing the solution so clearly.

Sutra, for me, is a heart-centred platform built with intention and integrity to support relational spaces to co-create in community. I love how it continues to evolve and innovate higher purpose tech that elevates the online experience thanks to @lorenzsell and @natashasell . I'm excited for these new "conversational courses"!
@jennifer_regular thank you so much, you've captured what's at the heart of our work so beautifully. I appreciate you so much!

Very interesting take on the edtech piece. The industry ahs been learning towards the community model for years, but it's very rare that you see course content directly integrated with conversations from folks. Now with AI, it's much easier to moderate and summarize lots of content. When I was on YouTube, sometimes, I find the most engaging thing I learned is from the comment section.
Though, I see that you only demonstrated on feature in the demo video - would be more helpful if there are other product visuals featured here!
Congrats on the launch @lorenzsell and team!
@tonyhanded we're actually in the process of really narrowing our focus on this particular feature. Like you said, few other tools integrate the conversation piece directly into the flow of content like we do and we believe this is a key piece of the puzzle.
@tonyhanded thank you so much for your thoughtfulness here. I think other platforms are either learning platforms who were primarily designed around content delivery and later learned that people want community too so they added on a community forum space somewhere for people to connect, but it's not working so well. For us, it was important from the very beginning to integrate where the learning and conversation happen seamlessly.

@natashasell yep that’s exactly it. It’s an after thought.

Awesome, i'm a course instructor, doing this since a few years, i'd love to give this a try
@goyashy amazing....so you know this space well. How do you currently run your programs? Are they self-paced or cohort based or a combo? We'd love for you to give Sutra a try and let us know how it feels and compares to what you're currently doing. And feel free to reach out and we can do a private demo and walk through it together.
@goyashy What platforms do you currently use to teach? Most of the programs on Sutra have been leadership focused. We're exploring new content verticals to expand into. Would love your feedback if you're interested in prototyping.

@lorenzsell@natashasell currently work on marketplaces, selfhosted courses and direct mentor live sessions, so i've literally tried it all out, but the course completion is a problem across all of these. What you're doing is interesting and new, and i'd love to see if this method works for teaching!

Great approach. I’ve been going through courses, that had this feature, but seems like they had to develop this system themselves.
But it certainly added more interaction!
@asby thanks Serge for your support! Yeah, would love to hear more about your experience with other courses and what worked or didn't to keep you engaged?
