Ubicloud is an open source cloud that can run anywhere. Our services include compute, block storage, load balancer, firewall, managed Postgres, and GitHub runners.
You can self-host our software or use our managed service to reduce your cloud costs by 3-10x.
Ubicloud is a breath of fresh air in cloud solutions! With its open-source model, it really shakes up the high costs associated with AWS. The Kamal integration streamlines web app deployment, making it accessible and portable. Plus, the bonus of 15,000 free compute minutes is a great incentive!
That's something new! Will definitely give it a try.
Congrats on your launch.

This is very exciting. Being a past happy Citus customer, I'm confident in Ubicloud's team to deliver a top notch product! Looking forward to try this.
Hey @sfg75 - thank you for the kind words!
We still have a lot of work ahead of us in building an open source cloud. Then again, today is exciting for us because our users can now deploy their web apps on Ubicloud using Kamal. With open source. Without breaking the bank. :)
Huge congrats on the launch! 🎉 The product looks awesome, and I’m excited to see where it goes 🚀

This is awesome! Great product!!
My only wish was that pricing was for example 8% of cloud spend... so Hetzner bill + 8% (and 16% for managed services) or something like that. Separating the application layer from the commodity compute is genius!
Then a fine-tuned llm to take an AWS or Heroku bill and generate a Kamal script for easy porting
Hey @fazingcampoout!
That's an interesting idea. Ubicloud currently cloudifies bare metal instances. When we provision Hetzner bare metal, it usually takes a few days for us to get the machines + a hardware setup fee (we increase network uplink for better performance). When we charge our customers, we bill by the minute for their on-demand consumption.
Are you thinking of a scenario where the cx owns the provisioning cost and billing for bare metal, and we charge a fee on top for cloud operations?

This looks like a great project, congrats. Do you have any plans to make VMs highly available/hot migratable or is that type of workload not really the main use case for ubicloud?
Hi @wordifynick - thank you!
We plan to provide this feature in the future, but we don't have it on our roadmap for now. Our block storage right now is served by local host through NMVe devices and we recommend using a managed database for anything that requires keeping state. We're looking at ways to provide replicated block storage, which is a prerequisite for VM migrations.

Looks interesting for me! I might try it later... :)
Hey @rok_krulec1 ! We support arm64 GitHub runners (which use arm64 VMs), but we haven't enabled VMs through the console. If arm64 VMs is something that's of interest to you, please feel free to send us a direct message.
