Hey Product Hunt — I'm Larry, the maker of Native Tasks for Obsidian.
I built this because my tasks already lived in Obsidian, but managing them there was never quite as fast or focused as a real Mac task app. Obsidian is brilliant as a knowledge base and source of truth, but I wanted a native surface for the day-to-day loop: capture something quickly, triage the inbox, set dates and priorities, check today's work, and get back to the note when context matters.
Native Tasks reads tasks straight from your Obsidian vault and writes every change back to Markdown. It supports plain checkboxes as well as Tasks plugin metadata like due dates, scheduled dates, recurrence, priority, and custom statuses. There is no account, no hosted sync, and no telemetry. Your vault stays yours.
The app is free to use. Pro (quick-add from anywhere, reminders, Spotlight, multiple vaults) is a one-off £19.99, and the direct download comes with a 7-day Pro trial, no card needed.
The goal is not to replace Obsidian. It is to make the task layer feel at home on macOS while keeping Markdown as the durable source of truth.
I'd love feedback from Obsidian users, especially around Tasks plugin workflows, multi-vault setups, and where the native Mac experience should go next.
