Can you work on a project that is already started?
Very interesting - but I'm amazed that you're able to quickly scope projects (5 minutes!) and then also have a 'guaranteed' price. How do you balance that?

We have been training a quoting engine for ~10 months. Sometimes we guess price wrong but it averages out on volume!
what parameters are you using for your quoting engine? I'd imagine for any AI to work it's got to be actual numbers. The main one I can think of at this point is project hours estimated versus time it actually took.
I sent a project to quote one year ago - follow-up was terrible. I hope v2 is different.
Was gigster even around then? I'm pretty sure they launched this year.

It was a rhetorical question, I know when they launched. The company has been around longer than a year, but the service didn't launch until early 2015. See the original 'hunted' Gigster. :P
I contacted them (Debo) on December 6th 2014 - had half a dozen emails with them - never got any clear answer/proposal to my brief yet.
Awesome company and great group of people. Highly recommend.
I submitted a project over 2 months ago and never got a response after repeated follow ups. There may be room to improve quality before driving more volume.
What is different about this release vs. the announcement that was on product hunt 2 months ago?

We may have been included in a collection (like the YC collection) but we weren't totally done with the product then. Current version is more solid with a bigger team supporting it!
ahh got it. Service was great. Unfortunately the app I contracted for couldn't be built after some discovery. Received a prompt refund and a t-shirt in the mail. Will use your service again.
Are you developers strictly employed by Gigster? Or can your teams roam freely on other freelance gigs?

Nothing but free range developers! That's why the best work for Gigster. We don't tie them down.
Have had 2 projects with Gigster and am quite disappointed so far... High code quality, but poor communication and adherence to milestones/timelines. Really hoping that they can pull through in the end though -- will keep you all updated
Update -- Turns out that there was a huge miscommunication and Gigster more than made up for their inconvenience. Debo, Roger, and the team are amazing and would highly recommend Gigster to anyone!

There's not a ton of info on becoming a gigster - what other pain points do you address for the engineer? I'm thinking particularly about issues like taxes, health insurance, vacation - the sort of things that a freelancer would miss from having a full time job.
