🎯 What are modern marketing approaches that work?

by•

Making a product is one big challenge. But shifting your mindset from building to marketing it might be an even bigger one.

As makers, we spend so much time improving the product. Then comes the question: How do we get people to discover it - and ultimately turn that attention into real customers and sales?

I'm not sure traditional approaches like email marketing and constantly posting on social media are enough anymore. The way people discover products is changing.

So I'm curious:

How do you approach marketing your product?

And for the marketers here:
What would you consider a modern marketing approach in 2026-2027? What would you advise an early-stage founder to focus on?

I'd love to hear different perspectives...

With over 1,100 properties on our routes, the best marketing move was never content or ads. It was quoting people fast. In lawn care, whoever gives the homeowner a firm price first gets the work eighty percent of the time. Modern marketing is mostly just closing the loop before they go look at your competitors.

 That's a good approach - closing the loop before ... =)

For us it's been going straight to the people who'd use it. Our customers are restaurant owners, and they aren't reading launch posts, so a lot of it is direct outreach and getting one place live that others can see. It's slow, but those are the ones who stick. We're still looking for something that scales with the product though, so I'm curious what's working for others.

Do you contact them online, or do you have some approach to visiting them in person?

The marketing strategy should start with organic channels, which require less investment but take longer to generate leads. However, they tend to attract high-intent leads. You can experiment organically with each social channel, then use your available budget to test ads for the persona that’s already working for you.

A modern marketing approach is to position your offering in AI chatbots. That’s the next big thing!

 Thanks for sharing your experience!
Agree with organic marketing...

How long are you in this field ?

showing the build behind a launch seems to pull people in more than polished posts. which channel actually brought you your first handful of users?

Since RunEvr was born in our animation studio, we started using it with our clients. So, our first users came through the studio's network.

The other big wave of users came after our Product Hunt launch.

makes sense, your own studio clients are a built-in test audience. did the PH launch bring a different kind of user than the studio crowd?

Yes, there are more individuals and freelancers.

freelancers are a nice fit for that kind of tool. do they tend to stick around longer than the studio clients did?
