Once you add zRate, ratings from sources like IMDB and important show/movie information such as the plot, main cast, year(s) etc are added under each show card. Customize what is displayed by clicking the “Z” icon next to the address bar. Find the best shows!
Awesome, I was waiting for this! I never understood why Netflix doesn't show IMDB ratings.

@yapartase They are too big to do this. Imdb has a really bad ToS and also has no API. So if you want to get ratings from them, you need to "steal" that with actually "downloading" the movie-page and parse out the needed data. This process will break almost every time when imdb do a page layout change, and it's illegal.
This is the reason why tmdb looked as a much better alternative, but somehow imdb still more popular.
So they either break the law, or waste a shitload of money or not implement this feature. (Also it's an interesting marketing/ux/sales question if showing imdb scores is good or bad for the product.)
@tg44 Interesting. Strange that they don't have an API. I personally rely heavily on IMDB ratings/reviews when deciding what to watch. Often times I just give up on netflix because their recommendation/filter system is dreadful.
@tg44@yapartase It also might be because they see IMDB as a competitor, and want to make their version of users ratings prevailing in the future. Just like Google doesn't show you TripAdvisor rating for hotels and restaurants while showing FB, Eater, etc and heavily investing in building their version.
@bjoern_rave Just uploaded it to the firefox addon store today! It should be available shortly after firefox finishes its review - will keep you posted :)
This is great. It seems like some of the ratings are incorrect though. For instance, the Witcher is showing up as 9.7 for me, but on IMDB it's rated at 8.7
@robmoore That's a good observation. I am using this API to the get the ratings: https://rapidapi.com/imdb/api/mo.... From what I understand, the API refreshes the ratings in its database once in 30 days or so, which means that some of the ratings you see in zRate might be a bit dated. This is not an issue for older shows whose ratings don't change much month to month, but for the really new shows ones like The Witcher, the rating you see might deviate a little from the actual rating.
