Medium Membership - $5/month for an ad-free experience with premium content

I think this is a bad idea. Having a 2-lane medium (free and premium) does not sound good.

Someone at Twitter must have forced to create a revenue stream. What's wrong in adding Ads?

They can't even process my payment. Having tried 2 different cards, I've already lost interest.

Big fan of Medium, but wish their membership model had other perks. For example, access to private events would be interesting
