🌟 Who are your Product Hunt lighthouses?

In every community, we naturally find people we love to communicate with, interact with, or simply follow.

From my very first day on Product Hunt, some people became little lighthouses for me here.

The moment I signed up, I noticed and her threads. She became one of those people I always enjoy following here.

Then came and .
And that was only my first day =D

I always enjoy seeing comments from , , , and under my threads. They always bring something useful or thoughtful to the conversation.

Of course, I also love waiting to see the products hunted by our beloved hunter <3

I have a special sense of respect for top hunters and !

A newer member I recently discovered and find particularly inspiring is - someone with real background and experience behind their words.

And I can't forget , who was the only person upvoting my early threads =D
Since then, I've noticed how quietly and consistently he supports so many community members through their launches and threads.

   reading is the cheap part. the expensive part is that your threads make me want to write a real answer instead of a nod, and i still cannot tell whether that is the question doing it or the fact that you come back and argue.

the launch timing one cost me about forty minutes and i had not planned to comment at all.

   the visiting part is the bit worth naming. a feed decides what you see. a forum is somewhere you have to go on purpose, and that selects for people who came to read rather than to be shown something. it is why answers here run longer than almost anywhere else, and why the threads worth returning to are usually not the top voted ones.

your ai flag thread is the other one i keep going back to.

   that one was rohan's, not yours. he posted about product hunt starting to flag comments as ai generated, in p/producthunt a couple of weeks back. worth a read if you missed it, the detector seems to go after polish rather than anything else.

I don't have a list yet, so here's what I actually have. Yours were the first threads where I wanted to write a real answer instead of a polite one. did the same to me yesterday with the question about the most expensive mistake, where she went first and put her own three lost years on the table before asking anyone else to.

@busmark_w_nika, while I'm here: minimalist phone has quietly landed in Japan. The App Store page is fully in Japanese and I found a resident doctor writing up his digital detox with it on note, which is one of the big Japanese blogging platforms. He liked the notification hiding and the per-app timer. Japanese users almost never write to developers in English, so you may not be hearing about it.

What both of you do is put your own answer on the table first, at your own cost, before asking anyone else for theirs. That's why the threads fill up. Ask me again in six months and I'll have a proper list. Right now I'm mostly reading.

 Hey! :) I am happy you noticed! :) Yes, we have a new team member who helps us to strengthen our position in the Japanese market! :)

 That explains the store page. It reads like Japanese written by a Japanese person, which is rarer than you'd think for a foreign app.

Your new person will know this already, but from the outside: there's no Japanese Product Hunt with real traffic, so discovery here runs through note, which sits somewhere between Medium and a personal blog, and through individual blogs. The one I found was a first-year resident physician writing up his own digital detox on note, and what he picked out was hiding notifications in bulk and the per-app timer, rather than the launcher itself. The other half is App Store reviews. Japanese users won't email you in English and mostly won't email at all, so if nobody on your side is reading the Japanese reviews every week you're missing the only channel most of them use. In 22 years of running a Japanese service that has never once changed.

I think you'll do well here anyway. Minimalism is growing, but there's a second reason that has nothing to do with focus. My daughters spend real time making their iPhone home screens look how they want. Younger users here treat the home screen as something you style, so an app that makes it look tidy reaches them before the digital detox argument does.

the part i keep noticing is how invisible that chain is unless somebody names it. i changed how i write a launch comment because of one specific comment someone else left months ago, and that person has no idea, because i never told them.

which is probably why a thread like this does more than it looks like it does. it makes the chain visible for a day.

Thanks Adana. Mine are , because she answers every single person on her own threads, which almost nobody keeps doing once a thread passes ten comments. And for a different reason: he posts the number that did not work next to the one that did, so his threads are the only place I change my mind instead of just agreeing.

the failed number is doing something the successful one structurally cannot. a number that worked is compatible with almost any story you want to tell about why it worked. a number that did not work rules things out.

that is the difference between reading a result and reading a claim, and it is why you can change your mind in front of one and only nod at the other.     

I dont really have a fixed list yet, but there are definitely some names I recognize from thoughtful comments and launch discussions.

I read your line about Hisashi twice. Finding someone new who real depth is rare lately. What first caught your attention about their comments?

 I see someone with 22 years of experience building products. He has a big platform for the Japanese market, and his advice about marketing and social media wasn’t generic at all. It was based on his own experience, which made it much more valuable. I even discussed some with my teammate =)

I love the lighthouse idea. there are definitely a few people whose comments i always stop to read.
